Problem:
A globally known glass manufacturer recognised for its excellence is the preferred packaging supplier for many of the world's largest food and beverage brands. Annual maintenance of the sites main centrifugal 8000 cfm air compressor would have resulted in production down time.
Solution:
Atlas Copco Kolfor supplied 4000 cfm of 100% Oil-free Air to maintain production during the 36 hour outage.
Technical solution
Equipment supplied was 4 x 1500 cfm 100% oil free diesel driven PTS's with desiccant air dryers and pressure reduction valves to control pressure to an accurate 53 psi (+/- 1 psi) at -40C pressure dew point.
Added value:
In the event of a plant shutdown, the main furnace and glass developing process needs to be cleaned as the glass can harden and can on occasions have to be chipped out by hand.
Elements of success:
From initial on time delivery, installation, running and de-installation all equipment performed 100%, giving full confidence to the customer for future maintenance requirements.
