Soot Blowing
The largest coal fired power station in the UK had a critical requirement for compressed air.

Problem:
The customer has installed at the coal power station
4 x 11,000 cfm
electric driven compressors. Recently they had experienced problems with their machines. During the previous weeks 1 compressor was being overhauled, 1 compressor had developed an oil leak and overnight the 2 remaining compressors failed to operate.
This left the customer with
no air supply
, which if prolonged would have resulted in the power station shutting down due to the fact that the steam boiler tubes would become blocked with ash and overheat.
Solution:
The customer requested that Atlas Copco Kolfor supply
11,400 cfm of portable diesel driven compressed air
to site, facilitate connection to the customer manifold and commission the temporary air package. Our air package was connected to the manifold allowing the air to reach and clean / purge the 600 - 700 miles of tubing inside each steam boiler. The customer conducted additional tests to evaluate future applications.
Added value:
Customer testimonial:
"The response we received was very good, we have no issues with the service"
