Atlas Copco at Las Vegas! Behind every ROC

Atlas Copco adds a lot of smart engineering and intelligence to its surface drilling equipment. Until now, only the tunnelers and miners could enjoy and benefit from the latest state-of-the-art technology that step-by-step has been incorporated into the complete Atlas Copco drilling family. Visit Con Agg 2002, in Las Vegas, 19 to 23 march, and Atlas Copco will show you in booth no C-6042 how drillers and service engineers can get the most out of the CAN-bus based control systems. Two fully hydraulic top hammer rigs are on display as well as the new powerful 25 kW COP 2550 rock drill. The Secoroc COP 64 gold offers amazingly more footage, compared to other DTH hammers.

Similar to a PC, the new ROC C-type rigs feature a totally integrated network control system including computers, a communications network, color display units and data input pad, which enables the driller, with a few hours of training, to get maximum drilling performance. The computerised rig control system virtually senses all changes in the rock conditions and adjusts the feed and impact accordingly.
During the introduction in Europe, the drillers have, above all, praised the rig controls and the quick movements of the joy-sticks, giving less fatigue in arms and shoulders and the excellent visibility from the comfortable and ergonomically designed cabin. The automatic functions, comprising rod handling, feed alignment and hole depth control, result in accurate, straight holes and improved rock fragmentation. Also, improved service life of the drill string contributes to overall drilling economy. Service engineers value the trouble shooting system and the modular design of easily accessible components.

Take the chance to join the exclusive Frequent Drillers Club. This internet based forum gives you the opportunity to meet new friends and colleagues around the world by exchanging ideas and information on all types of rock drilling matters.
By including the Secoroc rock tools into the Atlas Copco sales and service organisation and by harvesting from the new equipment range, Atlas Copco experiences strong sales growth on the US market—eventually there might be a ROC behind every ROCK!
