Launch of energy efficiency audits wins Environmental Award for 2009
The Atlas Copco Environmental Award for 2009 is presented to Fredrik Örnerdal, acting Business Line Manager Accessories at Atlas Copco Tools and Assembly Systems, for the introduction of energy efficiency audits within the Industrial Technique business area.
“The Atlas Copco Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Council congratulates Fredrik Örnerdal and all other people involved in developing and implementing the new audits,”
says Kobus Malan, Chair of the SHE Council and President of the Rocktec division.
The energy efficiency audits identify leakages and potential improvements in tools and installations at customer sites.
Building on experience from similar audits within the Compressor Technique business area, Fredrik Örnerdal has broadened the reach of Atlas Copco’s work to improve energy efficiency to include new customer categories. Already during the first year, the audits have resulted in major energy savings and cost reductions for customers. On average the audits reduced energy costs by about 25% while productivity could be increased with as much as 45%.
The major environmental achievement is reduced energy consumption for the customer, with resulting lower CO2 emissions, but also reduced consumption of lubricants as a result of implementing the recommended improvements.
