Atlas Copco Sweden’s most sustainable company

2010-10-25

Atlas Copco has won the Swedish Industry's 2010 Sustainability Award.

The motivation for this prestigious award is that Atlas Copco has succeeded in two important emerging fields: environmental and social responsibility. As for environmental achievements, the Group contributes to reducing emissions by developing equipment and processes that reduce energy consumption in industrial applications. On the social front, the company has ensured that many people have access to clean drinking water.

"I am pleased to see that our many years of efforts to create sustainable solutions have been recognized by the industry. We see it as a natural part of our business to continually work to reduce the environmental impact of our processes, products and services and make them more energy efficient," says Annika Berglund, Senior Vice President of Communications at Atlas Copco. “We are also pleased that our employee-driven organization, Water for All, was recognized. The shortage of water in the world has received increased focus and will require many more relief efforts."

Besides the major sustainability award, Atlas Copco also won the Social Responsibility Award, for distributing clean drinking water to a million people in developing countries. Atlas Copco was also nominated to the energy efficiency award for the Group’s revolutionary compressor technology.
