What is Rental at Atlas Copco?

Rental in India comprises a tightly-knit team of passionate and skilled individuals dedicated to solving complex problems across diverse industry segments.

We have well maintained and specialized fleet of rental equipment such as oil-free air compressors, power generators, onsite nitrogen generators, air dryers, dewatering pumps, and steam boilers.

We offer total solutions to our customers during their planned and unplanned projects like commissioning, peak shaving, breakdowns etc. Atlas Copco Specialty Rental India offers peace of mind by providing end-to-end solutions by designing a project, mobilization, commissioning, fuel managment and maintenance, decommissioning, and demobilization.

What/How is the market for Rental services in India?

The compressor rental market is currently unorganized, fragmented, and scattered with no major player having a significant presence across the country. We are the largest oil free Rental company and one of the few organized rental companies in the scattered market Indian equipment rental market can be defined as a Polypoly market - a situation where you don’t have one or two large sellers but many small ones which often deprives the customer of world-class rental experience.

When do Indian customers utilize Rental products the most?

Our customers are smart and they make effective use of rental equipment as it is a flexible, cost-effective, and convenient solution to meet their specific needs that too without any long-term investment associated with equipment ownership. We often see customers taking our services for temporary or short-term requirements such as during large-scale construction projects such as a refinery, tunnel, dam, fertilizer plant etc., during seasonal demands which we call peak shaving it enables them to scale their operations up or down based on market demand. Defense, pharma and many other OEMs rent equipment during testing or trial. Another major demand comes during maintenance support or when a customer has to meet contingency.

We see a new trend emerging where many MNC are asking for pay per outcome or build own operate business models.

Why is usership better than ownership in today's date?

I would say both usership and ownership comes with pros and cons, and they are not substitutes of each other. Having said that, I would also like to draw readers’ attention to the fact that we live in uncertain times & in a VUCA world, it is difficult to predict the future and this is where usership gives a competitive advantage to many of our existing customers.

What are the industries that the Rental products cater to?

How do you see Rental panning out in the future in India?

With our wide presence and investment in cutting-edge technologies like chillers, boilers etc., we are confident and optimistic about the future for Rental in the Indian market.
This largely comes from our past growth and the fact that India is seen as the fastest-growing economy in the world and is on its way to becoming the third-largest construction market globally. Infrastructure sector is a key driver for the economy as it is this sector that is confident in propelling India’s overall development and is receiving undivided attention from the Government for developing crucial policies that would ensure strict adherence to time and quality, maintaining high standards, and offering world-class infrastructure.

Though equipment leasing is still in a growing phase and accounts for 6-8% of the overall construction equipment market, there are many indications that there is soon going to be a turning point in this data.
