Everybody has experienced so-called “sticker shock”. The sensation of looking at the cost of an item and thinking that it is quite high. However, for many products, the figure on the price tag is only a small portion of its total cost. That is why it is key to consider the total cost of ownership (TCO), i.e. the true air compressor cost of buying, owning, operating, and ultimately recycling machinery.  

How much does an air compressor cost?

Compressors are a prime example of how pronounced the difference can be between initial investment and total cost of ownership. The purchase price of an industrial air compressor makes up only about 20% of its lifecycle costs. Most of it, approximately 80% of the TCO, can be attributed to energy expenses and the rest to maintenance.  

This means that the worst thing one can do when buying a compressor is to only look at the purchase price without factoring in the follow-up costs. As a rule of thumb, the least expensive compressors are generally not very energy efficient, which means that they cost more in the long run. This only makes them a good deal in the few cases where the compressor is rarely used.  

Svi su iskusili takozvani „šok zbog istaknutih cena“, osećaj posmatranja cene neke stavke i pomisli da je prilično visoka. Međutim, za mnoge proizvode, cifra na etiketi s cenom je samo mali deo njihove ukupne cene. Zbog toga je ključno uzeti u obzir ukupne troškove vlasništva (TCO), odnosno stvarne troškove vazdušnog kompresora za kupovinu, posedovanje, rad i na kraju reciklažu mašina.

 

Kompresori su odličan primer koliko je izražena razlika između početnih ulaganja i ukupnih troškova vlasništva. Nabavna cena industrijskog vazdušnog kompresora čini samo oko 20% troškova njegovog životnog ciklusa. Najveći deo, otprilike 80% ukupne ukupne vrednosti, može se pripisati troškovima energije, a ostatak održavanju.

 

To znači da je najgora stvar koju čovek može da uradi kada kupuje kompresor je da pogleda samo nabavnu cenu bez uračunavanja naknadnih troškova. Kao pravilo, najjeftiniji kompresori uglavnom nisu energetski efikasni, što znači da dugoročno koštaju više. Ovo ih čini dobrim samo u nekoliko slučajeva gde se kompresor retko koristi.

Obuzdavanje troškova rada kompresora

U većini drugih slučajeva, najbolji način da uštedite novac tokom vremena je ograničavanje operativnih troškova kompresora. Pošto oni čine tako veliki udeo u ukupnim troškovima vlasništva, najlogičnije je početi od smanjivanja troškova energije. To se najlakše i najefikasnije može postići kupovinom energetski efikasnog bezuljnog kompresora ili kompresora s ubrizgavanjem ulja.

Pouzdan kompresor može da izbegne skupe zastoje dok visokokvalitetni vazduh koji on proizvodi štiti opremu koja se nalazi u posle njega.
Mnoge od ovih pogodnosti nisu samo finansijske prirode. Manja potrošnja energije takođe doprinosi „zelenijoj" životnoj sredini, kao i eliminisanju otpada korišćenjem kompresora i druge opreme koji duže traju.

Skriveni troškovi rada kompresora

Pored očiglednih ušteda koje vrhunski kompresor može da ostvari, postoje i „meki troškovi“ koji se moraju uzeti u obzir. Neki primeri:

  • kompaktni kompresor oslobađa prostor u proizvodnim pogonima,
  • tihi kompresor je pogodniji zaposlenima i smanjuje potrebu za kupovinom zvučne zaštite,
  • i onaj koji stvara malo emisija koristi zdravlju zaposlenih.
