A water well is an excavation or structure created in the ground by digging, driving, boring or drilling to access water in underground aquifers.

The well water is drawn via an electric submersible or mechanical pump.  Wells can vary greatly in depth, water volume and water quality.  Water wells typically range from 20 to 600 feet (180 meters) but in some areas can go down to 3,000 feet (910 meters) or more.
