Atlas Copco Gas and Process receives large order from Italian power industry
Maintaining its current momentum, Atlas Copco has received a large-scale order from Ansaldo Energia for the Italian power industry. The order comprises a total of three fuel gas booster compressors, with the overall contract volume at MSEK 54 (MEUR 6). The machines are set for delivery in December 2007 and January 2008.
Based in Genoa, Ansaldo Energia is a major player in Italy’s energy market. The company covers the entire power generation spectrum with a combination of plant engineering, manufacturing and service activities. The Atlas Copco machines will be used in a combined-cycle power plant in Naples, Italy. Atlas Copco is building a two-stage booster compressor and two three-stage compressors for the plant, which has a production capacity of 380 MW. The gas supply in Naplesis characterized by varying gas pipeline pressures, requiring that the two-stage booster compressor is installed in series with the two three-stage compressors.
“With the Ansaldo project, we are once again proving our capability to develop solutions meeting complex customer requirements from the fuel gas booster market. And we are achieving this goal with very short response times,” says Dré Schmitz, President of Atlas Copco Gas and Process.
This newest fuel gas booster contract follows several other orders won in 2006, further strengthening Atlas Copco Gas and Process’ position in a global growth market.
