Atlas Copco Gas and Process to deliver largest turbocompressor ever to China
Atlas Copco Gas and Process has received a breakthrough order from the Chinese air separation market. The order comprises two three-stage main air compressors – the largest turbocompressors ever built by the company – and has an overall contract value of MSEK 63.5 (MEUR 7);The machines are set for delivery in March 2008.
The customer, Shangai-based Yingde Gas, will be employing the Atlas Copco machines in an oxygen application with a capacity of 60,000 Nm3/h, with the end user being a steel production plant. The turbocompressors are the largest one sever built by the Gas and Process Division, and will be capable of handling volume flows of 370,000 Nm3/h. To package the machines, Atlas Copco Gas and Process will use the so-called free arrangement method, with the core units assembled in Cologne and other components acquired and packaged locally.
“The GT153 is the result of systematic efforts. In developing machines of this size, we are leveraging off our expertise and experience in air separation solutions. We continuously strive to advance our capabilities to meet the needs in the Far Eastern market,” says Ulrich Schmitz, Business Line Manager at the Application Center Far East, which took the lead in winning the contract.
Before signing this recent contract, Yingde Gas earlier this year had ordered several other turbocompressors from Atlas Copco Gas and Process, including a GT123 used in the same application as the GT153s.
