Atlas Copco strives to provide a safe and healthy working environment for all employees.

Our goal is to have zero work-related accidents and a sick leave below 2.5%. The target is also that all employees will work in an environment with a safety and health management system. Product companies and major customer centers must be certified according to the international standard on occupational health and safety, OHSAS 18001. Business areas have taken long-term initiatives and launched campaigns to improve safety and health performance within their operations.

We have developed award winning HIV/AIDS or wellness programs in countries where diseases have an impact on employees and the local community. In Africa, for example, our HIV/AIDS program spans nine countries through collaborations with the Swedish Workplace HIV/AIDS Program (SWHAP). The program focuses on confidential testing, treatment and counseling and as a result, no one who joined the program has later tested positive for HIV/AIDS.

Competence development is essential to employee satisfaction, which is measured at least every second year in a global employee survey

The goal is to ensure that all employees receive the training and coaching needed to achieve good results, and a yearly appraisal. We also encourage mobility across geographical and organizational borders as a way of developing employees’ competence.

Increasing diversity in both nationality and gender is another goal. Local recruitment results in a workforce comprising all cultures, religions and nationalities. Approximately two-thirds of all senior managers are employed locally.

The work to increase the proportion of women in management positions is continuing. The Pleiades network strives to give our female employees the possibility to grow and develop through cross-functional, divisional and national interaction with other women in the Group. To further support diversity, our Group policy states that recruiting managers must have at least one female candidate when recruiting external candidates to positions where a university degree is required.
