Atlas Copco’s mid-range portable compressors now come in a smaller housing

To suit the needs of rental and construction customers, Atlas Copco has redesigned its mid-range portable compressors, comprising the XA(M,T,H,V)S 296-446 models,  to fit into a smaller housing. With their smaller size they are ideal for urban use where space constraints are a common issue. In the redesign Atlas Copco has also applied a new compressor screw element.

The benefits of this redesigned range will offer customers the utmost in performance and economy within the smallest dimensional platform on the market.

Since its introduction, the range of oil-injected XA(M,T,H,V)S 296-446 rotary screw compressors from Atlas Copco has built an enviable reputation for performance, reliability and efficiency. Atlas Copco’s constant search for innovation and our commitment to customers’ needs has resulted in a superior product.
To help customers save on their operating costs, Atlas Copco now applied more efficient compressor screw elements, such that this new model delivers the same compressed air output, but is now housed within a significantly smaller housing upon a single axle undercarriage.
This series of machines is perfect for jobs that require a high volume of air, such as abrasive blasting, drilling, and pipe restoration. This smaller machine will become a must-have for rental companies.

Designed to customers' individual needs

The units are designed with innovative features to make the operator’s job easier. All replacement parts are conveniently grouped and within easy reach so maintenance takes less time. Atlas Copco has designed a reliable, high performance air compressor with a long lifetime, low operating costs, and high resale value.
Housed in a silenced canopy the new range complies with the latest OND sound pressure level requirements.
The 6 cylinder in-line Caterpillar diesel engine is rated at 187 kW at 1800 rpm, which complies with EPA exhaust emissions regulations for off-highway vehicles.
Total cost of ownership through lower fuel consumption and longer machine life are priorities for all machines. These compressors have the best fuel consumption in their class, allowing the best fuel autonomy for complete working shifts. The units are equipped as standard with a large fuel tank capacity of 405 litres for a minimum full-load 8 hour shift supply. Further savings can be realized with Atlas Copco’s FuelXpertTM option.  This completely new and unique fuel saving system electronically regulates the engine speed and the air inlet valve to optimize fuel consumption.
The units are capable of operating in all ambient temperature conditions from -25 to +50° Celsius and up to 4500 m altitude, with a duty cycle of 80% of the operating time at full load for a wide variety of applications.
Another feature available on this unit is COSMOSTM.  Atlas Copco’s new electronic remote global management system allows customers to reduce their costs of ownership with a wealth of information on the compressor’s operation and service. To provide real time communication and excellent coverage, COSMOSTM uses the GPRS/CDMA network, which supplies accurate and up-to-date information. The use of GPS ensures that equipment can be tracked at all times and at any location.
COSMOSTM for example enables Atlas Copco to offer its customers an even better aftermarket service. The new system is designed for global operation with complete support for all Atlas Copco systems.

A wide range of options

The new models also feature separate air and engine intake filters and a safety cartridge for all air intake filters fitted as standard.
A large number of optional extras are also available to suit a wide range of applications including after cooler with water separator, fine filter or re-heater, road signalization, spark arrestor (US Forest approved), refinery equipment, cold start equipment for temperatures below -25°C (-15°F) and many more.
Above all, Atlas Copco compressors are built for reliability and simple easy maintenance, and many years of loyal and trouble free service. The benefits of this redesigned range will offer customers the utmost in performance and economy within the smallest dimensional platform on the market.
