Atlas Copco launches improved XAS compressor range for the rental industry at Bauma 2013
April 15, 2013 – Munich, Germany – Within the portable equipment sector, the rental industry has its own set of requirements. Atlas Copco worked closely with the industry to develop a range of rental compressors with a particular emphasis on ease of use, reliability, compactness and customization.
While the Kubota engine, which runs most Atlas Copco compressors already in use in the rental industry, is appreciated for its reliability and performance, feedback from the sector pointed to four essential rental criteria.
Firstly, rental equipment has to be extremely easy to use. The Atlas Copco controller already offers ease of use for any type of customer. New for the dedicated XAS Rental Line are a standard spillage free frame and simplified regulating systems for straightforward operation by multiple users.
Secondly, reliability and easy maintenance are essential in keeping operational costs low. The Atlas Copco Rental Line compressors are powered by Kubota engines and incorporate Atlas Copco’s robust HardHat polyethylene canopy for quick and easy service. An improved spin-on oil separator simplifies maintenance even further.
Rental compressors also need to be compact with a small footprint for easy transport and storage. In addition to meeting these criteria, all Atlas Copco Rental Line compressors weigh less than 750kg each, meaning that brakes are not required for towing on European roads. Additionally, the compressors offer an adjustable tow-bar, a support leg, wheel chocks as standard and optional road signalization.
Finally, Atlas Copco Rental Line compressors can also be delivered with customized canopy colors to match customers’ branding.
“With the Atlas Copco Rental Line we have listened to the rental sector, developing a range of compressors that matches their specific requirements. The Atlas Copco One Time Modification department handles additional design requests for further customization,” explained Manu Claes, Business Support Compressors with Atlas Copco Portable Energy. “This can include matching the canopy color to the customers’ brand.”
“In the end, our goal is to help our rental customers’ achieve their business goals. That is why we offer a complete range of products as well as maintenance and financial services tailored to the needs of the industry,” continued Claes.
In addition to a dedicated product range, Atlas Copco offers rental-specific service and maintenance packages as well as a selection of financial solutions, including hire purchase, financial lease, operating lease and split rental.
The Atlas Copco Rental Line offers XAS models in the 37, 47, 67 and 87 flow ranges. The compressors will be available across Europe from the end of May.
