Atlas Copco building selectively demolished

The former office building of Atlas Copco Nederland BV in Zwijndrecht, The Netherlands, was selectively demolished using Atlas Copco attachments.

CC 2500 U
In less than two weeks the entire building with a total area of 2112 square meters was torn down to make room for a parking lot. The building erected in 1971 was replaced by a new edifice. Atlas Copco Nederland BV already moved to the new building next door in February.

The building was to be demolished quickly with a minimum of vibration and dust and putting as less strain as possible on the operator and carrier. The contractors, Bijkerk B.V., decided to use Atlas Copco attachments for the job.

An HB 2200 Dust hydraulic breaker is used for the concrete structures and foundations. The HB 2200 Dust is part of the heavy hydraulic breaker range of Atlas Copco and contains features all like AutoControl. This system automatically adapts the breaker’s performance to the job conditions. This means maximum blow frequency in soft materials and maximum blow force when the material to be broken is particularly hard. The breaker therefore automatically adopts the most efficient mode of operation. The HB 2200 Dust is equipped with DustProtector II, a combination of several wipers preventing dust and pieces of stone from entering the hydraulic breaker. Another series feature is the effective VibroSilenced kit which protects the people living in the buildings nearby from annoyance caused by noise and vibration.

The CC 2500 U CombiCutter has a universal arm with cutters and crushing teeth with which it can demolish and crush reinforced concrete structures in one go. It is primarily used for tearing down steel structures in ceilings and pillars.
The BP 2100 BulkPulveriser separates and crushes the material to a size suitable for recycling. The large pulverising jaw and the force constantly applied throughout the entire crushing process turn this piece of equipment into a mini on-site recycling plant.
