AIRnet
The piping system that is easy to install and saves you money !
AIRnet
AIRnet is Atlas Copco’s modular air piping system. AIRnet is made from robust, lightweight, powder-coasted aluminum tube and designed for easy, low-cost installation with a large selection of engineered polymer fittings. No special tools are required.
The smooth, low friction inner surface of the aluminum pipe maintains a minimum pressure drop throughout the air distribution system. This allows compressors to work at lower operating pressures, reducing power consumption and operating costs.
The non-corrosive properties of AIRnet maintain a constant air quality from compressor to site of use. System cleanliness protects downstream equipment from contamination for improved reliability and lower operating costs.
Pipe is available to cover ½ inch to 4½ inch nominal pipe sizes. The system is suitable for compressed air and inert gases such as nitrogen, and is compatible with most types of compressor oils. The working temperature range is from -4°F to +158°F and the working pressure extends up to 188 psi.
AIRnet can be used to extend existing piping systems or to supply complete installation solutions.
Interview with Tim Last - VP Quality Air Solutions Atlas Copco Compressors LLC
Is AIRnet just piping?
AIRnet is a comprehensive system including six sizes of pipe and a wide range of fittings. That means we always have the combination that is right for the customer application. AIRnet is an especially efficient compressed air delivery system, which remains efficient throughout its lifetime, unlike traditional pipe systems.
How does AIRnet make the customer’s life easier?
Greater efficiency. Less ΔP losses means less energy cost.
Elimination of Leaks. Since, on average, leaks make up 20% of all air produced on systems older than 5 years, AIRnet can save the customer a lot of money!
Flexibility. With the easy fit compression fittings, a piping system can be changed – quickly and inexpensively – to meet changing needs or demands.
The 10-year warranty offers customers peace of mind, too.
What are the advantages of AIRnet vs. standard copper or black iron piping?
The biggest problem with traditional pipe systems is that they deteriorate over time. This costs the customer money several ways:
-
Increasing pressure drop as the internal surfaces of the pipe begin to corrode and become rough.
-
Leakage, which is very expensive since air is 7 times more costly than electricity
-
Repair costs to fix the problems above
AIRnet piping is anodized both inside and outside, so it is completely smooth and corrosion resistant. This means that the internal surfaces never corrode to cause leaks. Pressure losses are less to begin with and hardly change over time.
With no internal pollution, the maximum pipe bore remains open for better airflow. This can significantly extend the lifetime of the network.
Compared to a screw or bolt fitting, AIRnet’s compression fitting ensures a quality seal with absolute minimum air leakage over time. If the need ever arises, the fittings can be tightened simply without special tools.
Also, AIRnet piping is not so exposed to the ever-changing costs of raw materials, such as with copper pipe.
What about the AIRnet video?
We have an AIRnet video available to order and a comprehensive product brochure. These show the products in action and help anyone who’s interested to learn about the system, both from a commercial and technical point of view.
Do we stock the piping?
Yes. Within North America, we have made a huge commitment to stocking these products. They are stocked in the North American HQ and also in the regions, so AIRnet piping is always close at hand to meet customer demand.
Who installs AIRNET?
That’s a big USP with AIRnet. The sophistication is in the design of the products, not in their installation. We have focused on making AIRnet products easy to use, so this system can be installed by a range of people including distributors, contractors, OEMs, and of course Atlas Copco directly.
What does quality air really mean within Atlas Copco?
Basically, it is the key concept of taking raw air into its useable form and includes things such as filters, dryers, condensate treatment and piping, with a real focus on quality accessories. AIRnet fits perfectly into the quality air concept.
