A few month later the platform was ready and shipped to its ultimate location in the North Sea. The platform has been installed by one of the largest crane ships in the world, “the Thialf”, property of Heerema Marine Contractors. The Atlas Copco Rental QAS 325 generator and tank remained at the “DolWin alpha” until the beginning of 2014. TenneT already has 2 HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) platforms in the North Sea. Besides the DolWin alpha, the network administrator wants to construct another nine installations during the next five years, providing Atlas Copco Rental with new opportunities to extend their services.
