Sponsored by Atlas Copco (China) Investment Co, Ltd., 15 graduate students from Energy and Power Engineering College of Xi'an Jiaotong University started their summer internship visit to four Atlas Copco companies in both Wuxi and Shanghai from July 31 to Aug. 4. Xi’an Jiaotong is one of the top universities in China and famous for its engineering school.
The visit named as “Atlas Copco Discovery Journey provides an excellent opportunity for the 15 students to learn the whole business process in Atlas Copco and benchmark interests for their future careers. The four Atlas Copco companies they visited are: Atlas Copco (Wuxi) Compressor Co., Ltd., Pan-Asia Gas Technologies (Wuxi) Co., Ltd., Atlas Copco (Shanghai) Trading Co., Ltd.- Compressor Technique Customer Center and Edwards Technologies Trading (Shanghai) Co.,Ltd.
The visit schedule was quite intensive, with a series of visits and seminars on product development, lean production, marketing, service as well as career planning advisory meeting. The students also met Atlas Copco employees at each company; a few of them were their alumni who also shared their career stories at Atlas Copco. They were very much impressed and motivated by the company’s innovation, great working environment and unique company culture.

All the students showed their great interests in learning the manufacturing process, R&D, and Atlas Copco innovative solutions. Good case studies such as the compressor Smartlink monitoring system and the energy recovery solution received many attention and interesting questions from the students, when they understand how Atlas Copco is helping customers in maximizing their efficiency and productivity.
It is the first pilot university student internship program organized by Atlas Copco China Holding. In the future, the program might be introduced to other universities, for more students to explore the Atlas Copco’s journey to sustainable productivity.
