What is a positive displacement blower?
There are two basic types of compression: positive displacement and dynamic compression. Pd blowers or positive displacement blowers draw in a specific volume of air or gas at suction pressure via the inlet into an internal chamber. They transport that volume of air and force it out via the outlet at higher discharge pressure.

Although these two technologies use positive displacement compression, there are some significant differences.

During the compression process, the volume in the internal chamber is being reduced during that transportation cycle, which results in an internal compression. This results in a thermodynamic process called isentropic compression, which is more energy efficient compared to isochoric compression. On top of that, the oil pump and cooler ensure proper lubrication and cooling of the bearings. This results in minimal mechanical losses, higher efficiency, and superior reliability.
