Our current Year in Industry student, George, has been interviewing members of the Power Technique Team to gather some memories and some insight into why Atlas Copco stands the test of time.
What is your role?
My official role is Power Technique Customer Support and Shop Online Administrator.
What is the best part of your role?
Dealing with customers, placing their orders and following them start to finish to make sure their order gets there. That is probably the best bit because 99% of the time it gets there smoothly. I also like when it does go a little bit wrong and I have to problem solve, spending time finding out where the parcel is, tracking it down and that sort of information.
How long have you been with Atlas Copco?
10 years in August!
What has kept you at Atlas Copco this long?
The people! The people I work with and have worked with; including customers as well. We have some really good customers you can have a joke with, so when they ring up you’re glad to chat to them, for whatever reason they are ringing for you can have a laugh with them.
In your ten years here, what has been your favourite memory whilst working with Atlas Copco?
I don’t know, I’ve had lots, because I’ve had a variety of jobs! When I first started I worked for what is now Epiroc, on the mining side. In some respects, probably the best bit for me was when they took over Meyco, the people that do concrete spraying for the cross rail projects and tunnels. That was intense work and hard going, but really good and the people I’ve met from there have been some good people.
What Power Technique product would you best describe yourself as?
I would like to say I’m like a lighting tower because I light up the office and make people laugh.
