The EV company required dry and clean compressed air for a number of different operations at their plant including painting applications

Project overview

An important segment that has been driving change for this cause, is that of electric mobility or more simply the Electric Vehicles (EV) market which is growing at a rapid pace globally. With more and more individuals and organizations becoming conscious of their carbon footprint and deciding to act upon it, the demand for green vehicles mainly EVs is increasing day by day. As per the e-AMRIT website which has been launched by India at the COP26 Summit in Glasgow, to act as a one-stop destination for all information on electric vehicles, more than 7.5 lacs electric vehicles have been registered to date. The GoI is also making a big push for EVs by providing necessary support in terms of policies and infrastructure like EV charging stations and thus promoting the automobile industry to focus on green energy.

 

The overall impact of this initiative is India has the highest no. of EV manufacturers and leading the way in the production of these vehicles. The EV company required dry and clean compressed air for a number of different operations at their plant including painting applications. However, the challenge is the demand for compressed air is varying at the point of use.

Our air experts along with the company's team studied their demand pattern and recommended the right compressed air solutions which can help them to reduce energy costs and increase the productivity of the plant.

Implementation and outcome

  • The Variable Speed Drive (VSD) air compressor is the ideal solution for the fluctuating demand with almost 50% energy saving over fixed-speed air compressors.
  • Atlas Copco’s F 410 refrigerant air dryer limits the risks of moisture by removing moisture, which uses a refrigerant circuit and highly efficient heat exchanger(s) to pre-cool air, refrigerate it to condense out moisture vapour, and then re-heat the air to prevent pipe sweating downstream.
  • For the painting plant, we offered the ZT 90 VSD, an oil-free rotary screw air compressor which is highly energy efficient and provides clean 100% oil-free compressed air to avoid any contamination during the painting application. 
  • In the production line for assembling and testing, we offered the ZT 90, a fixed-speed oil-free rotary screw air compressor, which has superior oil-free screw elements that provide the optimum combination of high Free Air Delivery (FAD) with the lowest energy consumption. It's ample-sized cooling, low-pressure drops, and extremely efficient drive train result in the highest compressor package efficiency.
  • Atlas Copco’s BD360 desiccant air dryer has a robust and compact design that ensures the reliability of production processes and the quality of customers' end products by providing moisture-free air.
