What is an industrial air blower?
An industrial air blower is a piece of equipment that is used to blow large volumes of air at pressures up to 1.5 bar(g)/ 150kPa.
How does an air blower work?
There are several different air blower technologies that exist in the market. Some use external compression (rotary lobe), while others compress the air internally (rotary screw, high speed turbo etc).
What are the advantages of an air blower?
The advantages of using an air blower in place of an air compressor is that an air blower can provide the air at the required pressure which prevents from overpressurising the air.
If using an air compressor, we must compress the air to a high pressure and then reduce the pressure in line with the requirement which consumes far more energy.
What are the various applications of air blowers?
Aeration, air scour, pneumatic conveying, drying, fermentation, aquaculture, fluidisation, combustion air, destrastification to name a few.
When to consider a blower or low-pressure compressor and what is the difference?
When you have a process of application that requires a pressure from 0.3 to 1.5 bar consider a blower. Blowers should also be considered to increase your site's efficiency. If you currently regulate your medium pressure compressors down below 4 bar for certain applications, installing a blower or low-pressure compressor could considerably reduce your energy consumption.
Are there different types of blowers?
Yes, there are different types of blowers. Blower technology includes rotary lobe, screw, multi-stage, and turbo blowers.
What blower do I need?
This depends on what you need the low-pressure air for? Atlas Copco offers many products and technologies for low-pressure applications. They can also give expert advice and recommendations.
Best blowers for wastewater treatment
Efficiency is important in this industry. Atlas Copco has many technologies to meet all needs. This ensures the right fit for each specific application and requirement. Recently, we have seen more ZS4 VSD and ZS5 VSD rotary screw blowers being installed. They have a large turndown range. This range allows them to work well during both "on" and "off-peak" times.
