Instead of physical Cables use Virtual one

Industrial Location Tethering - works as virtual cable and provides tool position data for process control

Why Industrial Location Tethering? 

We see increased needs for flexibility and mobility in production which means more and more battery tools. 

Challenge with battery tools is that they are not physically coupled to an area and can move around in the plant.  

With the ILT we are answering not only to these challenges.

Modern Solution with Great Value

ILT base station & tool with tag

            ILT uses ultra-wideband radio (UWB) communication between Tool Tags and Base station. This communication enables to use tool inside of the products because line of sigth is not needed. Secure that a battery tool is only used within its permitted work zone, by tethering it to a specific work station.

 

  • The ILT can be seen as a virtual cable, tethering the tool to a specific station, or area. Equivalent of having a cabled tool physically tied to the controller.​ 
  • This is a static solution, it is not moving along with the line. The defined area is connected to one base station. 
  • One base station is capable to handle up to 6 Tool Tags

            Tool Tag's built in gyroscope enables to track tool orientation with high accuracy. It gives good error proofing options to be sure the tools are positioned accordingly. System is capable to measure Pitch and Roll angles

Process control with ILT

Confirm mode

            Controller selects tightening program. Tool will be enabled by ILT if it is in right position and orientation.

In this case controller lead the process based on upper system data, or predefined batches. 

Control mode

            In control mode, the ILT Base Station tells the controller where is a tool and what tightening program to use. It is based on tool distance and orientation. Ideal solution for situations where operator has freedom to decide the tightening order and ILT just selects correct programs depending on positions.

Can I use ILT on moving assembly line?

ILT covers predefined areas. It means it could cover the entire takt and ensure tool should work only inside of takt. No more pre-work or after takt work wich could be potential risk on quality

How ILT communicates with other systems?

ILT communicates with controllers via Open Protocol. Power Focus 4000, Power Focus 6000 and our new IxB integrated controller battery tools are supported.

Can I use ILT with my existing assembly tools?

Do you already have tools but you need just positioning system? Yes, ILT system requires a base station to be placed near to your station, little cabling to the network or directly to controller and power supply. From tools side ILT tag should be mounted on the tool and need to be connected to internal BUS. Our service will take care of the job. For compatibility of our tools please contact us.

Are there any SW components?

No, ILT works without any additional software. Configuration is easy through web browser, you just do configuration of the area where tool should work.

What is the range of ILT solution?

Maximum distance from base station is 15 meters.

What is ILT accuracy?

ILT accuracy level: 0,5 meter. Pitch and roll accuracy: 5 degrees
