As Atlas Copco celebrates 100 years in the UK, we get to know our team better and share some memories of Atlas Copco over their careers
Our current Year in Industry student, George, has been interviewing members of the Power Technique Team to gather some memories and some insight into why Atlas Copco stands the test of time.
What is your role at Atlas Copco?
I am a workshop engineer.
What does that role entail?
Any of the Handheld tools or compressors that come into the workshop for either repairs or service, it is my job to diagnose the issues, carry out the service or repair, and get them back to the customer as quickly as possible.
How long have you been at Atlas Copco for?
I have been at Atlas Copco for just over 18 months.
What has been your best memory whilst working at Atlas Copco?
I came here from a completely different trade, so it’s all been new from day one, and I’ve really enjoyed that because it’s a change from what I’m used to and a bit of a challenge.
What has been one of the most challenging things that you’ve faced whilst working at Atlas Copco?
When I first started I didn’t know what a lot of the products were, or how they worked. So for a while there were things coming into the workshop that I didn’t recognise or know how they worked. That’s been challenging, but it’s also been really good for me because I’ve been able to learn a lot.
Which Power Technique product is your favourite?
I like the Cobra, but everyone needs a bit of light in their life and I think the light towers are pretty cool, so I’ll go for the light towers.
