Atlas Copco Rental brings in 100% oil-free quality air for boiler maintenance operation at thermoelectric plant in Colombia

Every equipment requires maintenance & cleaning after long periods of utilization, and boilers used in thermoelectric plants are no different! They surely share this need, however with some extra requirements.

Former cleaning solutions used to apply chemicals to the boilers, however this procedure brings with it a series of side effects: among those the need to eliminate the chemical residues and to treat them or ensure they are properly handled in order to avoid any environmental contamination, which comes at a high cost.

This type of process requires 100% oil free air: definitely something where Atlas Copco Rental is a recognized expert! When thermoelectric plant in Valle del Cauca, Colombia, needed to clean its boiler, they searched for a specialized company to execute the service and found a partner in the U.S. The selected U.S partner did not have the necessary compressor to provide the required air quality and therefore suggested to bring it from their headquarters. This solution turned out not to be feasible due to its high impact on the overall cost of the project. They could also not find a local supplier for the compressor. That’s when the thermoelectric plant management decided to contact Atlas Copco Rental in Peru. Even though our team in Peru did not have this equipment available in their fleet… they immediately looked for a solution. They contacted their Rental colleagues in Brazil and promptly brought in the required equipment. The compressor was sent directly from Brazil to Peru where it was tested and prepared for transportation to Colombia.

The delivered solution

For this project we brought in a PNS 1250 compressor to supply 1100 cfm of 100% oil free air at a pressure of 24 bar: the perfect match to perform this boiler cleaning process.

This was another important aspect of the project and it did not remain unattended! Our Peruvian team contacted a company in Colombia whose owner had been a technician for Atlas Copco. Thanks to his vast experience and qualifications we could perfectly handle the equipment, support our end customer and fulfill the task. Thanks to the dedication, commitment and good coordination of the teams involved, the project ended without any issues and 100% on schedule! This project perfectly summarizes our offer.
