Auburn Hills, Mich., February 25, 2021: Atlas Copco - a leading provider of industrial power tools and solutions - announces the launch of an all-new transducerized QMT MicroTorque tool for fixtured applications.
The QMT MicroTorque tool from Atlas Copco is a fixtured, transducerized screwdriver for low torque applications. Aligning completely with Industry 4.0, the QMT is intuitive and extremely automation-friendly, able to integrate with virtually any cobot or torque arm on the market.
"The QMT's lightweight and compact size makes it the perfect tool for automated assembly lines in a wide variety of low torque applications," said Matt Moskal, Atlas Copco's MicroTorque Product Specialist. "It can, of course, be used for manual MicroTorque assembly lines too."
"The feedback we've received so far for QMT has been excellent," said Moskal. "During benchmark testing at a major European automotive supplier, our QMT won first place out of the five selected suppliers."
Used in conjunction with the MicroTorque MTF6000 controller, the QMT MicroTorque tool provides precise, error-proofed tightenings, time after time. Multiple advanced tightening strategies, such as Torque Seating Monitoring and Seating Control Strategy, automatically detect and eliminate common tightening errors.
"Our advanced tightening strategies detect the seating point in order to secure a sufficient clamping torque for every tightening," explains Tim Copacia, Atlas Copco's Electric Tool Product Manager. "This is how the MTF6000 and QMT together are able to reveal and eliminate issues like floating screws or stripped joints."
For fixtured low torque applications, Atlas Copco's transducerized QMT MicroTorque tool offers the full package: Complete process visibility, closed-loop error-proofing, and best-in-class accuracy.
