VSD+ for 50% average energy savings

Our GA (VSD)+ is a revolutionary air compressor, without equal. It takes energy efficiency to a new level with an average of 50% reduction in energy consumption, compared to traditional fixed speed installations. The GA (VSD)+ has a small footprint thanks to its vertical design and the built-in VSD (Variable Speed Drive) which enables the large energy savings.

Over 80% of a compressor’s lifecycle cost is taken up by the energy it consumes. Moreover, the generation of compressed air can account for more than 40% of a plant’s total electricity bill. To cut your energy costs, Atlas Copco pioneered Variable Speed Drive (VSD) technology in the compressed air industry. VSD leads to major energy savings, while protecting the environment for future generations. Thanks to continual investments in this technology, Atlas Copco offers the widest range of integrated VSD compressors on the market.

How VSD+ technology works.

Atlas Copco’s Variable Speed Drive⁺ (VSD⁺) technology closely follows the air demand by automatically adjusting the motor speed to match the compressed air supply to the demand. Combined with the innovative design of the iPM (interior Permanent Magnet) motor, the GA VSD⁺ achieves average energy savings of 50%, this reduces the total lifecycle costs of the compressor up to 37% on average.

On top of energy savings up to 50% , the GA VSD⁺ realises a Free Air Delivery (FAD) increase of up to 12% for improved efficiency and performance.
