  • How did you get into the compressed air industry?

My journey with Atlas Copco began in 2013 when I joined as an intern, overseeing SHEQ files for what was then the mining and rock division. That same year, the company relocated to our current offices in Jet Park. This move brought new opportunities. By March 2014, I was appointed in a permanent customer service role within the industrial tools Business Area, where I dedicated four years of my professional growth. In December 2018, a new opportunity arose in the Compressor Technique division, prompting me to apply for a lateral move. I transitioned into this role, continuing my focus on customer service and that marked my entry into the compressor industry.

  • What does your current job/role entail?

In my current role as the Parts Sales and Marketing Manager, I oversee both the direct and indirect spare parts sales channels. My responsibilities include leading the parts customer service team, setting parts pricing, and driving the development and execution of our sales and marketing strategy for parts.

  • What have been some of your own personal challenges working in an engineering company?

One personal challenge I faced was overcoming ‘imposter syndrome’, the feeling that men might perform my job better. I tackled this by adopting an attitude of continual learning and leveraging the knowledge around me. This approach has empowered me to see that expertise and knowledge are not bound by gender.”

  • Do you have any stand-out moments?

I've had the privilege of traveling extensively in my role, whether it's within my own country, abroad, or to neighboring countries. These journeys have provided me with fresh perspectives on many aspects of life and have been instrumental in enhancing my networking opportunities. Their focus on diversity and inclusion has played a pivotal role in my career development. With equal opportunities at my disposal, I have been able to navigate various sectors within the business, gather significant experience, , and break through barriers that might have otherwise restricted my growth. I continue to learn daily from my colleagues in an unbiased environment, which is crucial for career development.

  • What are your future career aspirations?

Looking ahead, my goal is to pursue an international role within the group. Staying in one position for too long can lead to complacency, and growth often comes from stepping into new, challenging roles.

  • Do you have any advice for other women and girls who want to work in the compressed air industry, or in engineering in general?

Now is the perfect moment to enter the industry, especially with Atlas Copco aiming for 30% female representation by 2030. This goal reflects a strong commitment to changing the perception of an industry traditionally viewed as male-dominated. Such initiatives are paving the way for a more inclusive environment. When people envision a compressor or engineering company, they often picture tough physical work in challenging conditions. However, the reality is quite different, as there are numerous opportunities available for everyone, regardless of gender. Roles in administration, technical, sales and marketing, finance, and more are all part of this diverse landscape.. The shift towards inclusivity in the industry is not just a trend; it represents a significant transformation. Companies like Atlas Copco are leading the charge, demonstrating that there is a place for both men and women in various professional capacities. This evolution opens doors for a broader range of talent and perspectives, enriching the industry as a whole.
