Before equipment can head out to sea and face the harsh conditions of offshore applications, it needs to be carefully tested. Due to the increasing complexity of offshore equipment and the strictest safety regulations, it is vital that is goes smoothly and the equipment is up to the task
An FPSO – Floating Production Storage and Offloading – is a floating vessel used by the Offshore Oil & Gas industry for the processing of hydrocarbons and oil storage. Usually, it is based on a converted oil tanker hull. It receives fluids, like crude oil, autonomously from nearby platforms or reservoirs, processes it, including initial refining, and stores the oil until it can be offloaded onto a tanker. In order to test storage systems that are scheduled to be installed on an FPSO unit, nitrogen was required.
