Meade: A Successful First Rental

ANTWERP, Belgium - May 31, 2013 – How good interaction combined to determination, innovative thinking and clear understanding of customer’s challenges bring additional pipeline servicing projects to Atlas Copco Rental USA.

Last September the local Atlas Copco Rental area sales manager visited Meade headquarters in Illinois to enquire about their pipeline division. Meade is one of the largest privately held electric, utilities and pipeline contractors in the USA. After this first discussion he got in touch with Meade’s coordinator for equipment during projects. Early in October both teams met once more to discuss the benefits of using Atlas Copco Rental equipment for their compressed air needs during pipeline projects.

Meade was then just about to start a job involving a 13 miles long 36” pipeline and timing was critical: Meade needed to push their pig and dry the pipe by November 1st. It was also extremely important to ensure a smooth project due to the potential for future bids on the same line.

It was first determined that Meade would need a PTS916 with a dryer, however Atlas Copco Rental also recommended to rent an additional three PTS2300 compressors with after coolers and external fuel tanks.

Since Meade would take this equipment to their next pipeline project Atlas Copco Rental suggested mounting everything on a trailer to make the transition easier. To ensure one less worry for their customer Atlas Copco Rental also introduced the idea of arranging for a third party company to come refuel the tanks on a daily basis. Meade was then completely convinced Atlas Copco Rental was the partner they needed.

Meade has been very pleased with this first cooperation. The company has a few jobs already lined up and confirmed they would come back to Atlas Copco Rental.
