Helping one of the world’s biggest refinery increase efficiency

When a leading service provider required 100% oil-free air with zero downtime for completing their job at one of the world’s biggest refinery, Atlas Copco Rental India was the obvious trusted partner to the rescue!

A few months ago, a leading service provider to the Oil and Gas industry had the task to reduce heat losses in a major refinery in India through their ceramic coating solutions in the minimum time possible and with zero errors, since part of the refinery had to be shut down for the work. When the service provider was contracted by the refinery, it was critical that they complete their job in the fastest time possible – since a single day of shutdown would imply millions of dollars of unearned revenue for the refinery. So, for their applications, it was essential that the air supply be 100% oil-free and dry to prevent contamination, during their ceramic coating process. They also needed the air supply to be fail-proof, hence they contacted Atlas Copco Rental India.

Due to the criticality of the work, it was essential that there was no downtime of the compressors. Atlas Copco Rental decided to supply the PTS 1600 Air Compressors. Our PTS 1600 is a Class Zero certified oil-free air, diesel driven, screw compressor and it’s engine has a spectacular service interval that allows running of the compressor for longer than ever, without a single break. Three compressors and three Desiccant dryers were supplied, where two of each were employed for the job and one of each was kept on standby. Our operators and service engineer worked in three shifts to ensure that the project is executed in the quickest time and there is no downtime of the air compressors.

The oil and moisture-free air was used to spray the ceramic coating onto the critical equipment. The PTS 1600 guarantees 100% pure air that ensure results as needed. The work at the site was completed five days earlier than projected, saving millions of dollars for the refinery and helping our customer fulfil their commitment. Our oil-free air compressors meet the strictest standards at every pressure level. That is how we can guarantee greater productivity, more efficient processes and less waste.
