Working at Atlas Copco in Stockholm, Sweden, at Industrial Technique's global headquarters.

Signal Processing of IMU data within a hostile environment

This goal for the project is to improve signal quality of the built-in IMU (inertial measurement unit) of the latest generation handheld battery driven tools via signal processing in e.g. Matlab and to compensate for known disturbances, e.g. gear type, current engine speed etc.

“I wrote my thesis for Atlas Copco in Nacka, the division industrial technique and the energy segment with focus on smart bolting. I investigated whether it is possible to have any traceability in the assembly process of a wind turbine. The aim of the thesis was to track the position of a tool during assembly of the flange joints at the turbine. I gained a lot of experience not only of the technique I used, but also in the different challenges that Atlas are facing today. I learned how to develop a product from a given application and the benefit of working in a global company. Today I have a permanent job at Atlas Copco as a product specialist.”

Alexander Arvidsson did his master thesis with ITBA in Tierp 2017

“I conducted my thesis at Atlas Copco in Tierp, where I investigated the possibility of increasing the process efficiency in the manufacture of handheld power tools. I was able to apply my abilities in analyzing and solving problems which I developed during the period. The project led me to a permanent job at Atlas Copco as a software developer in Nacka, but above all, I gained experience of working for an international company and insights on how valuable it is with structure and planning my work.”
