Technical Change Value Stream Mapping

APPLICATION CLOSED - The project intends to map the technical change process currently in place at Atlas Copco Industrial Technique Nacka: For what is it used? Are there any bottlenecks and if so where? Propose steps to simplify and or align the process with the business set-up.

Planetary gear analysis

PROJECT FILLED - Make a complete model of a planetary gear with respect of bearings, shaft deflections and tooth contacts. This should be made in our gear calculation program KISSsoft (+Code Aster open source FEM solver) and Creo Simulate. Perhaps also on additional systems like Romax and Ansys if needed. We would like to investigate how simple the model can be to be good enough and when it is needed to do more extensive calculations.

Extraction for Fault Identification in Rotary Machines under Machine-Learning

Accurate fault diagnostics in rotary machines is generally approached by developing a physical model of faults and understanding the relationship between faults and measurable signals captured by a variety of sensors. Classical fault identification and classification models employ analytical, signal processing and statistical-based features of the sensor signals combined with suitable classifiers.

Machine shop capacity, planning and utilization

This target of this project is two-fold: Firstly, to develop a method to measure and visualize current demands as a basis for back-on-track calculations and forecasting. Also, to develop a method for measuring available machine capacity versus machine utilization within the Atlas Copco framework.

3D-printing on-demand – A cost analysis approach to AM in production

The aim of the project is to analyze current conventional manufacturing process when it comes to special sockets for tightening tools from a cost- and lead time perspective. Based on the results evaluate and propose a suitable calculation tool for evaluating additive manufacturing (AM) as complementary or replacing manufacturing method.

This project is intended to investigate the customer software ecosystem in the automotive sector. How does it look like today and how will it evolve in the future? How does Atlas Copco software fit into the ecosystem? What gaps do we need to close?

“ I wrote my thesis for Atlas Copco in Nacka, the division industrial technique and the energy segment with focus on smart bolting. I investigated whether it is possible to have any traceability in the assembly process of a wind turbine. The aim of the thesis was to track the position of a tool during assembly of the flange joints at the turbine. I gained a lot of experience not only of the technique I used, but also in the different challenges that Atlas are facing today. I learned how to develop a product from a given application and the benefit of working in a global company. Today I have a permanent job at Atlas Copco as a product specialist. ”
