Target

This goal for the project is to investigate, verify and design prototype that can be implemented in future AC products.

Background

Modern materials in aerospace industry as titanium, require low cutting speed and high feed rate for optimal drilling, while composites require high cutting speed and low feed rate during drilling. The heat generated during machining (especially titanium) can damage applications when heated metal chip pass through several layers of different materials. By adding low-frequency movements during drilling, chip generation can be controlled. The principle lies in adding a low frequency periodic motion to the tool's constant feeding movement. This provides benefits in the form of increased quality, productivity and reduced costs to the aerospace industry.

Mission

To lay a solid theoretical basis for the choice of technology for the further development of an electric vibration unit (chiplet) for future AC drilling applications.

Qualification

We believe in order for you to thrive in this assignment you have a great understanding for thermodynamics, control technology and are comfortable with MatLab or other comparable program. Skills in Computer Aided Design and practical laboratory work is a merit.

Our office is located in Sickla, Stockholm.

As this is a project position for studies and not an employment, it does not qualify for seeking a work permit. We can therefore only accept applications from students who are either attending Swedish universities (i.e. already have a student visa) or, if they are attending universities abroad, are EU-citizens.
