Roofing applications in final assembly

Challenges in roofing applications:

Roofing applications for final assembly mostly deal with structural bonding. Typical processes steps are: mounting the roof to the chassis, inserting the roof felt to the inner of the car and installing sunroofs.

Within all those steps adhesive is used to add strength to the car structure and to prevent corrosion when installing the sunroofs. At Atlas Copco we provide the technology to achieve reliable and strong joints, that can be repeated without losing their quality. We are also able to make fast switches between 1C and 2C applications, to prevent your material from unwanted curing, extend your uptime and lower your process costs.

Sunroof assembly

The glass panel of the sunroof is mounted to a module frame using a shaped bead, mostly an accelerated polyurethane. The height and shape of the bead ensures an even adhesion between module and panel. This joint must be 100% sealed to avoid any water leakage. When working with accelerated material a high dynamic adjustable mixing ratio is crucial. Our product line SCA has the perfect solution to achieve this and even manages to lower your process costs at the same time.

Our fast switching products from our product line SCA achieve the perfect solution and enable you to boost your productivity.

Mounting of the sunroof

Within this step the finished sunroof module is mounted to the car body. To ensure that this joint is as seal as the sunroof module itself, the applied material is mostly the same. To achieve a reliable structural bond, most car manufacturers use a regular bead.

Our product line SCA’s piston meter technology combines highest speed and repeatability with reliability to ensure you a continuous quality.
