FPSO system testing

An FPSO – Floating Production Storage and Offloading – is a floating vessel used by the Offshore Oil & Gas industry for the processing of hydrocarbons and oil storage. Usually, it is based on a converted oil tanker hull. It receives fluids, like crude oil, autonomously from nearby platforms or reservoirs, processes it, including initial refining, and stores the oil until it can be offloaded onto a tanker.  In order to test storage systems that are scheduled to be installed on an FPSO unit, nitrogen was required.

Atlas Copco Rental equipment used for the job:

  • NGM 280 Nitrogen generator
  • GA 55VSDFF compressor

Our equipment was used, for a duration of two months, to generate Nitrogen on-site to test the systems that are scheduled to be installed on an FPSO vessel. The NGM 280 is capable delivering a flow of 280Nm³/hour at 95% purity and 10 bar air inlet. Its working principle is based on membrane air separation.
