From emergency intervention to long-term solution
The pretext may have been a region-wide shortage of liquid nitrogen. But the emergency solution we developed was such a success, that it turned into a long-term rental project. Our customer, a manufacturer of low-voltage electrical cables based in Tuscany, Italy, can now generate a constant, reliable, and cost-efficient supply of high-purity nitrogen on site and on demand. And most importantly, they are no longer affected by the logistical headache, unstable supply or fluctuating market prices of liquid N2.

Emergency intervention: bridging a local shortage of liquid N2
For our industrial manufacturing customer in central Italy, having a constant and reliable flow of high-purity nitrogen is essential to securing the continuity of production. Specialized in low-voltage cables made predominantly from copper and copper alloys, they use nitrogen to ensure a fully inert environment to prevent oxidation during production. However, local providers of liquid nitrogen were having major difficulties in securing supply, leading to region-wide shortages. And so our customer went in search of an alternative solution.
Total solution: on-site nitrogen generation plant
Our local team at Atlas Copco Specialty Rental Italy, put together a fully customized and accurately dimensioned package consisting of our state-of-the-art NGP115 nitrogen generating membrane, powered by our ZT37VSDFF electric and 100% oil-free compressor with integrated dryer and inverter.
This compact yet powerful package was more than capable of delivering the required flow and purity rates. At an extremely competitive and above-all predictable operating cost. So much so that our customer decided to continue using it as their primary source of production nitrogen.
Lasting results: an agile, long-term solution
Once convinced of the viability, stability, and cost-efficiency of on-site N2 production, our customer was quick to sign a 1-year contract. Turning what began as a temporary intervention into a long-term solution. Our customer was also highly satisfied with the level of service from our local team, which played a major role in securing their business:
