E-Air meets the contractor's high expectations

The electrical compressor, E-Air V1100, fulfills the contractors high expectations for cost and CO2 savings

Subcontractors on working sites must adapt to tough conditions in both financial and environmental aspects. No wonder this Norwegian drilling company are shifting to cost efficient, silent and low-emission electric machines.

We want to be part of the shift to more sustainable products and at the same time E-Air provides lots of air power for the money.

Langenga: Real estate developer Conceptor Bolig AS

Only 30 minutes from Oslo city center, a new real estate area called Langenga, is taking shape. The area is currently transforming from constructions site into a green child friendly shuffle distance suburb. The location, in Asker, is a great mix of surroundings of thriving forest and the bay of the North Sea as well as convenient neighborhoods with grocery stores and daycare centers around the corner – everything a family can ask for.

Since E-Air V1100 is frequency regulated, it is more silent than ordinary compressors.

Håkon Myhre, CEO at Brødrene Myhre
The subcontractor and drilling company Brødrene Myhre is one of the largest in Norway and CEO Håkon Myhre, the son of the founder, is known for his technical interest. Therefore Håkon immediately paid attention when he heard about the VSD (variable speed drive) functionality of Atlas Copco’s E-Air V1100 compressor. He soon realized that shifting to an electrical compressor would mean lower operation costs as well as less environment foot print - a truly win-win for the company. Adding the E-Air V1100 to the fleet also opens new opportunities for all type of construction projects, also in the strictest environmental regulations.

Brødrene Myhre started in 1976 and is a well experienced team with approximately thirty employees. When the company was assigned as a subcontractor for the Langenga real estate project, it was a perfect match for the powerful electrical driven compressor, due to all the drilling needed for the foundation  in the solid bedrock. Since the mid-1980’s Atlas Copco is one of the company’s suppliers of construction equipment, and for this project Atlas Copco’s largest E-Air compressor, the V1100, was best suited both in terms of air flow but also in terms of minimum noise.

Company: Brødrene Myhre
Size of company: approximately 30 employees
Location: Jevnaker, Norge
Type of business: drill air company, wells, energy and foundation drilling, specialist drilling

At the moment we have challenges with the grid on the working sites, to get enough electricity to the machines which are adapted to the tougher environmental standards. Therefore we are investigating new ways of supporting and charging them, where the energy storage system ZenergiZe from Atlas Copco is one interesting option.
