Stay cool in summer

with the right air system and maintenance solution

Are you ready for the summer heat?

Rising temperatures can put extra strain on your compressed air system, affecting its efficiency and performance. Hotter ambient temperatures can significantly impact operational efficiency, leading to potential issues.

To safeguard your compressed air system and maximize efficiency this summer, Atlas Copco compressed air dryers help you to kick off the warm summer months!

How additional water effects your air system?

Moist air brings out a high possibility of compressed air system failures and inefficiencies. It can cause problems like:

  1. Rusting, corrosion & wear of the interior part of the compressed air piping
  2. Air leakages due to the holes in air piping which leads to pressure drop and accordingly loss of energy and Money!
  3.  Adversely affect the color, adherence & finish of paint applied by compressed air
  4. Jeopardize process industries where many operations are dependent upon the proper functioning of pneumatic controls.
  5.  The malfunctioning of these controls due to rust, scale, and clogged orifices can result in damage to product or in costly shutdowns
  6. Corrosion of air or gas-operated instruments, giving false readings, interrupting or shutting down plant processes.
  7. Bad quality of your End Product  which consequently affects your profitability

To avoid all these disturbances and disruptions, compressed air must be dried with drying equipment that is regularly checked and maintained by our service team experts.

FAQ of air dryer

Why does air system need a dryer?

Many tools and equipment, driven by compressed air, cannot withstand water or moisture. Many processes, using compressed air, are processing products that cannot withstand water or moisture. Inherent to the compression cycle, free water is often formed in the compressed air circuit.

Untreated compressed air, which contains solid, liquid, and gaseous contaminants, poses a significant risk as it can damage your air system and your end product. Moisture, one of the main components of untreated air, can cause the following problems:

  • Water in a compressed air system often causes corrosion which leads to rust forming in the compressed air system. Those rust particles will be released and transported through the compressed air system. Corrosion of air or gas-operated instruments giving incorrect measured values, causing interrupts or switches off system processes.
  • Cause of wear and tear of the inner part of the compressed air line, leading to holes and thus to air leaks, resulting in a pressure drop. Meaning a loss of energy and money.
  • This can result in damage or failure of the compressed air tools and can cause contamination of the processed products. Free water or moisture in a compressed air system can sustain bacteria growth or the moisture can be absorbed by the processed product leading to quality deviations and product spoilage. For example: may adversely affect the color, adhesion, and surface finish of paint applied with compressed air. This could lead to the rejection of your product and affect your profitability.
  • Water can freeze in control lines in cold weather, leading to the malfunction of the controls.

How to choose a right air dryer?

Choosing the right air dryer for your air compressor, it is important to determine the moisture requirements for your equipment before selecting the air dryer.

The correct dryer for your compressor depends on what the compressed air is used for and the moisture tolerance level of your equipment. It must be able to provide dry air that is right for your need.

How does air dryer work?

Air dryers remove moisture from the air.
Each dryer system- desiccant dryerrefrigerated dryerand membrane dryeruses its own technique.

The measurement of dry compressed air after processing is known as its 'dew point'. The lower the temperature of the dew point, the less amount of water vapor in the air. Dew point means the actual temperature where condensation begins. For example, if the dew point is -40 C° this means condensation starts only if compressed air temperature goes down to -40 C°.

Eessential tips of maintaining your air dryer?

To have an optimized compressed air system that continues to work efficiently – you have to make sure that your dryers are well-maintained and regularly clean. That is the only way your system can consistently and reliably deliver high quality with utmost efficiency.

The most important activity which is recommended during any season is to keep your air dryer in good performance & well maintained every 4000 hours or 6 months whichsoever comes first

It is recommended to be proactive and properly implement the necessary steps to keep the compressed air dry, clean, and suitable for your operations.

  • Have a walk around your compressed air equipment
  • Check the condensate drains Higher humidity in the summer causes more condensate to come out of the drains.
  • Be sure the drains are in perfect working order so they can handle the excessive water flows.
