Every season presents its challenges for your operations and processes – and your machinery as well. This especially goes for extreme temperatures. So, make sure your mobile power generator is ready for freezing weather before it even hits, by going over this service checklist:
4. Replace the cooling fluid before it starts freezing.
As coolants age, they lose protective properties. New coolant will help avoiding the fluid to freeze at cold temperatures.
5. Replace oil.
As temperatures fall, oil becomes thicker, which as a result will lower its lubrication performance. So, to guarantee optimum engine lubrication and performance under cold temperatures, you should replace the oil regularly. Also, make sure the right oil is used for the ambient temperature in your region.
6. Measure alternator insulation resistance.
A low insulation-resistive value can lead to a future breakdown. Therefore, regularly keeping note of the levels is key.
7. Test the earth leakage relay
This important safety device is used in electrical installations to prevent shock. It detects small stray voltages on the metal enclosures and immediately interrupts the circuit if a dangerous voltage is detected.
8. Check the fuel condition with our water detection product.
Due to condensation, presence of water in the fuel may increase, causing damage to the fuel system.
9. Dry the alternator
To avoid breakdowns, keep your alternator insulation value high, and dry the alternator regularly during winter. .
