Meet Bethany - Field Service Engineer Apprentice
We're wrapping up this year's celebration of National Apprenticheship Week with an interview with Bethany Johnson. She's aspiring to have a career in engineering and she appreciates the support the company has given her throughout her apprenticeship.
What are your future aspirations?
My future aspirations include getting my level three CAVT award, then progressing to an HNC, HND, and maybe even further! I want to progress as far as possible as an engineer.
Can you tell us a bit about your role?
I am an apprentice service field engineer. My role includes mainly servicing, problem-solving and upgrading technology along with Atlas Copco’s new developments.
How has your apprenticeship experience been so far, and what specific skills have you gained or developed during your time at the company?
The apprenticeship has been really good. I have developed many practical skills and have been achieving well in my online assessments.
How has the company supported your development during your apprenticeship?
The company is allowing me time to complete my apprenticeship, as well as my manager taking an active approach to ensure I am receiving the correct practical training required.
Can you share a memorable experience you’ve had while working as an apprentice?
One of my most memorable experiences was a few weeks ago. My mentor allowed me to change a drain completely on my own and it was really reassuring to see his faith in my skills and development over the last couple of months.
