Sav atmosferski zrak sadrži neku količinu vodene pare. Kada se zrak komprimira, koncentracija vode se povećava. Kako bi se izbjegli budući problemi u instalaciji kompresora, komprimirani zrak mora se obraditi. U ovom članku govorimo o sušenju zraka prekomjernom kompresijom.
Prekompresija je možda najjednostavnija metoda sušenja komprimiranog zraka. Zrak se najprije komprimira na viši tlak od predviđenog radnog tlaka, što znači da se povećava koncentracija vodene pare.
