Select The Right Pipes to Ensure Pure Compressed Air Delivery

Pipes used for transporting compressed air are available in a variety of materials such as – plastic, iron and aluminum among others. Materials such as plastic and iron for air piping systems may not always be ideal as the lubricants from the compression process leads to corrosion of such pipes. This contaminates the air stream and results in leaks.

You would want to avoid all of this to ensure delivery of pure, high-quality compressed air. Certain materials also cause pressure loss during the transport due to friction in the pipes. While material such as copper has low friction coefficient and can avoid pressure loss, it is not compatible with all applications. Compressed air or vacuum are used for a variety of applications, sometimes including direct contact with the end products. Selecting the right material is crucial and may even have a direct impact on Health, Safety and Environment Regulations. Stainless steel piping systems help you ensure 100% oil-fee air delivery and compliance with highest quality standards. This air piping system is corrosion resistant and leak proof, and is silicone free, thus helping you keep the environmental impact to the minimum. Such piping design can be the apt choice for special applications. Keep these two factors in mind when choosing your compressed air piping system:

#1: Type of compressor installed in your system

A variety of critical applications using compressed air need high-quality pure air for the end products and the production process. Here piping installations, such as that from AIRnet, which ensure 100% oil-free would play a critical part. Stainless-steel systems ensure 100% oil-free air delivery from the generation to the point of use.

#2: Industry criteria

A few industries have stringent requirements like Pharmaceutical, Hospitals, Research labs, Clean Room, Healthcare Facilities, wherein the type of piping recommended is Stainless Steel SS304L or SS316L and Copper Piping. Also, NFPA has approved stainless steel for vacuum application in healthcare facilities.

Creating a piping system for your compressed air needs doesn’t have to be difficult. Atlas Copco’s AIRnet piping system helps you comply with highest quality standards. The piping design and press fit system ensures fast installation thus no welding or threading, saving labor costs. The AIRnet system can be used in clean room applications (316 L) and also Pharmaceutical and Food & Beverage industry (FKM Seal).
