When to choose Foodgrade compressor oil?

When you are manufacturing or packaging products in the food, beverage or pharmaceutical industry, it is essential that you are aware about potential health risks if compressed air would accidentally get in touch with your product.

Food, beverage & pharmaceutical industries

If compressed air is used in the production process and gets in contact with the product it is absolutely mandatory to use 100% Oil Free air (Class 0). In many applications the compressed air is not in direct contact with the product and as such oil injected air can be used. As the compressed air might get accidentally in contact with the product, a compressor oil that complies with safe food regulations and is NSF registered is the correct choice.

Roto Synthetic Foodgrade

Foodgrade approved lubricants are designed to protect and enhance your key assets in the same way that the other Atlas Copco genuine lubricants do  against wear, corrosion, oxidation, and friction, as well as transferring and dissipating heat in the most efficient way. The only sure way to eliminate the risk of contamination in food, beverage, and pharmaceutical manufacturing environments is to use NSF certified H1 lubricants whenever possible.

Take no risk with product contamination

The Atlas Copco Foodgrade lubricants are approved by NSF International. H1 approved compounds are suitable for incidental, technically unavoidable contact with a food product up to 10ppm. In facilities where food and beverage handling occurs, using NSF H1 registered lubricants allows for the elimination of potential contamination. Hazardous substances in and around food and beverage applications can be harmful to public health, therefor, choosing a quality H1 lubricant product will safeguard your product quality at all times, minimizes any risk of contamination in your entire production and logistic process and will ensure the longevity and performance of your equipment throughout the total lifecycle.

Which foodgrade oil to select for your machine?

Roto Synthetic Foodgrade is a 4.000 hours (or 1 year) oil which is a good fit for compressors running in mild and standard operating conditions. In more demanding conditions, the lifetime of Roto Synthetic Foodgrade is 2.000 hours (or 1 year).

Roto Synthetic Foodgrade Ultra, on the other hand, is a perfect fit for compressors running in more demanding or extreme conditions. A lifetime of 4000 hours or 2 years can be guaranteed in demanding conditions. For more extreme operating conditions, the lifetime will reduce to 3.000 hours. This lubricant should also be selected for units with non-standard operating conditions, like frequent start-stops or compressor rooms with bad ventilation.
