Taking assembly into the connected future
Today’s manufacturing production increasingly requires greater versatility to handle a higher product mix and additional variants on the assembly line. As manufacturing becomes more complex, human intervention has also become increasingly important, making user-friendly assembly systems essential. Sustainability is also in sharp focus, placing further demands on manufacturers in regard to compliance with CO2 emission legislation, environmental quality standards and ensuring that production processes are energy efficient.

Atlas Copco Tools and Industrial Assembly Solutions is very well positioned to help manufacturers solve these challenges. Its state-of-the-art connected tools and data driven software provides a holistic Smart Connected Ecosystem which uses data to maximise uptime and quality, whilst minimising production costs and errors. The Power Focus controller platform lies at the heart of the Smart Connected Ecosystem and is the next level of Atlas Copco’s concept for equipping the smart factory of the future.
Central to Atlas Copco’s Power Focus solution is the Power Focus 6000 controller, which provides the interface between the production line and the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) software that controls the assembly process. In addition, Atlas Copco’s open protocol software is designed to easily interact with MES software, allowing tools to be added quickly and cost-effectively.
A single controller provides power and communication for up to six tools from 12 different tool families, via a common controller platform. This helps manufacturers remove cost and complexity by requiring just one power drop cable, ethernet connection and a single IP address for each controller and workstation, resulting in lower power consumption and improved floor space utilisation.
