One Platform - multiple tool types!
As manufacturing becomes more complex with the need to handle a diverse product mix on the assembly line, so has the requirement to ensure each workstation provides a high degree of flexibility. Atlas Copco’s Power Focus platform enables this flexibility by utilising Virtual Stations to connect six tools to the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) via a single Power Focus 6000 controller. Each Virtual Station communicates individually with the MES, allowing multiple tools to be run from just one physical controller.

Alongside running power and communication for multiple tools, the Power Focus controller can manage tools from 12 product families from across the Atlas Copco industrial tightening portfolio, that covers standard and special requirements at the workstation. This allows all Atlas Copco tool types, including clutch tools, corded nutrunners and manual wrenches, to be connected to the Power Focus platform.
Operating multiple tool types via a single Power Focus controller also helps manufacturers to ensure the correct tool for the right application in the workstation on the same platform. These include applications that are high and low torque safety-critical, as well as those with access demands. Having just one controller also removes cost and complexity by only needing a single power supply, ethernet connection and IP address for the workstation, resulting in reduced power consumption and improved floor space utilisation.
Through its Smart Connected Ecosystem and Power Focus controller platform, Atlas Copco strives to be the assembly manufacturing partner of choice, helping customers solve challenges and improve efficiency with data collection, line management and quality assurance.
