Atlas Copco aerospace assembly process

We present here how our smart tools and solutions support the whole assembly process for the aerospace industry in drilling, fastening, tightening, riveting, etc., with quality, accuracy, and safety, during the several holes and screws that build each aircraft.

The Atlas Copco assembly process includes 6 main steps:

1 - Drill the pilot hole

Pre-drill and ream holes manually, with precision, to prepare for later steps in the assembly process.

2 - Secure temporary fastening

Assemble temporary fasteners that either puts two parts together or fixtures a jig.

3 - Deliver the final hole

Drill the final holes according to a specific pattern with a handheld tool, ADU or via automated drilling.

4 - Control hole quality

Check the quality of the drilled hole with a bore gauge.

5 - Fill the hole: tightening

Assemble the parts, putting the product together via screws and nuts.

6 - Fill the hole: riveting

Assemble parts, putting the product together via solid rivet or blind rivet, frangible collar
