Our Variable Speed Drive (VSD) technology ensures air delivery is matched to system requirements, thus effectively decreasing your energy consumption and reducing your environmental impact.

Simplifying Maintenance

To further enhance the efficiency of your process and ease of use of your blower installation, we offer you different ways to monitor and control your units.

Low Pressure Air Applications and Blower Technologies

As a world leader in compressed air technology, we also offer a wide range of blower technologies. Thanks to our wide range of technologies, we can provide the most appropriate solution for your low-pressure requirements be it pneumatic conveying, wastewater, mining or any other application needing low pressure compressed air.

In keeping with Atlas Copco's principle focus of "Sustainable Productivity", we strive to improve energy efficiency so we can provide our customers with the best ownership benefits and the lowest operational cost. We have taken this philosophy to our blowers. With our low-pressure products, you can be sure to receive the lowest lifetime cost.

Why Oil-free Blowers and Low-pressure Technologies?

Blowers can be used for a variety of processes. Typical low pressure applications include aeration, fermentation, pneumatic conveying, and heating or cooling of materials. These applications can be found within different segments such as cement, food & beverage, and wastewater treatment.

Blowers and low-pressure compressors are specifically engineered for applications that require a pressure between 0.3 and 4 bar(g). There are multiple compression technologies that are used for generating low pressure air. Enormous energy gains can be made by choosing the right type and size of compressor to match the exact pressure and volume required by your applications.

We offer different technologies such as positive displacement technologies (screw blowers and lobe blowers) and centrifugal technologies (high-speed turbo blowers and multistage blowers). All our oil-free air blower technologies are designed to offer you quality air and maximum uptime of your process, safeguarding the quality of your end product.

Wide Range of Blowers for Many Applications

We have blower technology to suit every application, our range includes a single-stage Z blower with asymmetric screw design (ZE/ZA), a high-speed direct drive turbo blower range utilising magnetic bearing technology (ZB), a highly energy efficient screw type air blower with large turndown capability (ZS) and also a range of geared single stage and multistage centrifugal turbo blower. Our products are ideal for the following applications:

  • Wastewater Treatment
  • Fermentation
  • Floatation
  • Pneumatic Conveying
  • Aeration
  • Leaching
  • Combustion Air for Kilns
  • Roasters and more

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an industrial air blower?

An industrial air blower is a piece of equipment that is used to blow large volumes of air at pressures up to 1.5 bar(g)/ 150kPa.

How does an air blower work?

There are several different air blower technologies that exist in the market. Some use external compression (rotary lobe), while others compress the air internally (rotary screw, high speed turbo etc).

What are the advantages of an air blower?

The advantages of using an air blower in place of an air compressor is that an air blower can provide the air at the required pressure which prevents from overpressurising the air.

If using an air compressor, we must compress the air to a high pressure and then reduce the pressure in line with the requirement which consumes far more energy.

What are the various applications of air blowers?

Aeration, air scour, pneumatic conveying, drying, fermentation, aquaculture, fluidisation, combustion air, destrastification to name a few.

When to consider a blower or low-pressure compressor and what is the difference?

When you have a process of application that requires a pressure from 0.3 to 1.5 bar consider a blower. Blowers should also be considered to increase your site's efficiency. If you currently regulate your medium pressure compressors down below 4 bar for certain applications, installing a blower or low-pressure compressor could considerably reduce your energy consumption.

Are there different types of blowers?

Yes, there are different types of blowers. Blower technology includes rotary lobe, screw, multi-stage, and turbo blowers.

What blower do I need?

This depends on what you need the low-pressure air for? Atlas Copco offers many products and technologies for low-pressure applications. They can also give expert advice and recommendations.

Best blowers for wastewater treatment

Efficiency is important in this industry. Atlas Copco has many technologies to meet all needs. This ensures the right fit for each specific application and requirement. Recently, we have seen more ZS4 VSD and ZS5 VSD rotary screw blowers being installed. They have a large turndown range. This range allows them to work well during both "on" and "off-peak" times.
