Used for high-volume production in automated environments, our self-pierce rivet setting system offers a reliable, robust, and cost-effective method of automatically feeding fasteners. These systems are ideal for body-in-white production, such as car body frames, pillars, doors, and hoods, and for add-ons, including sunroofs. 

Our self-piercing studs have a high degree of mechanical strength that can withstand impact, torque, and vibrations. When your application needs to hold up to a heavy load, with the added benefit of minimal electrical current resistance, Henrob self-piercing studs are perfect for grounding.

Check die conditions during the riveting process

The die check camera reliably and automatically detects broken dies to ensure your riveting assembly continues producing quality joints. The image sensor takes a snapshot of the upsetting die currently in use and compares its integrity to a programmed good condition. Compatible with the Unity2 platform as well as most previous platforms, it allows flexibility and forward functionality of your current and future SPR systems.

Loose feed and stud systems

Our loose feed systems are ideal for high-volume rivet applications where the economics are attractive for continuous feed. Direct feed and magazine feed systems are designed to meet high levels of reliability using built-in intelligence for fault identification and self-recovery. The use of quick-change parts minimizes maintenance and downtime.

  • Magazine: Fast rivet feed times / suitable for full range of typical automotive rivets / 4 bar air supply servo setter
  • Energy efficient riveting: 7Wh per rivet achievable
  • Higher productivity: energy-based system = more rivets per cycle
  • Dependable joint process monitoring: Encoder control for consistent, repeatable joint quality
  • Fewer preventive maintenance cycle count: 4M cycles in between PM

Compact Bulk Feeder (CBF)

  • The Compact Bulk Feeder (CBF) is an entry level bulk rivet feeder, reducing the required initial customer investment for loose feeding, while also reducing floor space requirements.
  • Available with an optional external barcode reader for additional process protection, the capacity of the CBF is approximately 3 bags – for example about 6,000 shorter 5mm rivets.
  • The CBF carries a smart PLC locally which means any controller, cell, or robot can instruct the unit to feed a rivet.
  • The standard rivet feeder includes a rivet length checker to prevent the wrong size rivets from being used in your application.

Poka-Yoke Bulk Rivet Feeder

  • With a capacity of up to 80,000 rivets, bulk rivet feeders include a bowl, hopper, and RFID-tagged poka-yoke bottle to provide error-proof continuous production.
  • The Unity2 PY bulk rivet feeder includes PLC controls for flexibility as well as being AGV compatible for future “dark” factories.

Fewer riveting systems required

Multi-rivet feeding is realized with the magazine fill station covering the full range of typical automotive rivets allowing for flexibility. Productivity is increased and fewer rivet setting systems are required to apply the same range of rivets. Improved design features allow quick and simple access to components simplifying service and maintenance.

Poka-yoke and re-usable spool options

  • Cardboard or plastic recyclable rivet spools hold 4,000 to 10,000 rivets depending on rivet size.
  • Optional poka-yoke solution where the center hub is configured with a mechanical key to prevent incorrect rivets from being loaded to a tool.
  • Re-usable plastic spools are available for applications where a return loop permits economic recycling and refill.
