Is your compressed air system still cost-effective? AIRScan can help

Our expert compressed air assessment helps identify inefficiencies, cut energy costs & reduce CO₂ emissions through smart optimization.

September 4, 2025

Compressed air accounts for a significant part of your company’s electricity costs. Fortunately, you can achieve large savings by taking targeted measures.

Atlas Copco offers a range of services designed to assess the efficiency of your compressed air system. Based on this assessment, you can take action to optimize your system’s efficiency and reduce your energy costs and CO2 emissions on a structural basis.

Start with a quick online check

With our potential savings calculator, you can estimate within minutes how much you could save. Enter standard data about your installation, such as total installed power, electricity costs, annual running hours, and natural gas costs. Based on this information, the tool will calculate the amount you can save by repairing leaks or installing a central controller, among other solutions.

Get a more specific estimate with SMARTLINK data

Do you want a more specific estimate about your installation based on actual data? With a DigiScan, we connect all your machines to our SMARTLINK asset management platform. For one week, the installation runs in high-data mode to collect data on operating conditions. We analyze the captured data with our AIRchitect software to provide you with an initial report showing where you can save energy and reduce costs.

Get the full picture with an on‑site AIRScan audit

To make precise calculations and informed decisions, we perform an on‑site AIRScan. Without disrupting production, we install measuring equipment at multiple points in your system and analyze everything from the compressor room to the point of use.

What do we measure and assess?

  • Energy Audit: We measure relevant parameters, like energy consumption, flow rates, and pressure, to get a clear overview of the system’s status. Next, we simulate different configurations of your system.

  • Air Quality Analysis: We check the purity levels and give specific recommendations based on your quality standards.

  • Leak Detection: Compressed air leaks generate ultrasounds that are not audible to the human ear. Our acoustic camera detects up to 40% more leaks than traditional methods and is also twice as fast.

  • Vibration Analysis: We check the rotating components of your system, such as the element, gearboxes, and drive train, to prevent unexpected failures.

After the AIRScan audit, you receive a comprehensive report with all measurement results and a tailored action plan.

A helpful tool for both managers and technicians

In the report, we provide a complete overview of where you can save energy across your entire system. It also includes in-depth information about bottlenecks and recommended solutions. This makes the report useful for management when making decisions, and practical for technicians when carrying out the work.

Clear overview of energy-saving opportunities

The report starts with a summary that highlights the most important aspect: your total potential savings. It gives a snapshot of your current system, including operating hours, output, energy use, and costs, compared to a new and improved system.

Clear summary of issues and tailored solutions

We provide a detailed description of your current setup. For every weakness we find, we propose a clear solution. At the end of the report, you will find a summary of all recommendations, along with an estimate of how much you could save for each one.

Flexibility to choose which proposals to implement

AIRScan assessment
In the report, we present each suggestion separately with its own potential savings. For example, if both a central controller and an energy recovery unit are recommended, we calculate the benefits of each and present them separately. This allows you to choose which options are worth investing in based on the investment cost and expected return. If we detect air leaks, we list them in detail, along with a repair priority list if needed.
