Fact check: VSD are the best in class compressor for withstanding heat

When operating any electronic equipment and machinery, it’s important to avoid overheating. Cooling is managed in various ways. For example, computers will have fans.

 

With air compressors, the cooling can be done with a water-cooling circuit or an air fan that will cool down the oil to maintain the right temperature inside the compressor.

 

The hottest point in an oil injected screw compressor is at the compression stage. One of the many functions of the oil is to remove the heat from the compression stage. 

When the internal temperature runs too high, the oil will get damaged and is no longer capable of doing its job correctly, which would result in a compressor failure.

 

The oil temperature in an oil-cooled air compressor can vary due to a mix of environmental, mechanical, and operational factors. Here's a breakdown of the main reasons:

1) Compressor load and duty cycle:

Running the compressor at high loads or for extended periods increases internal friction and heat generation, which elevates oil temperature.

2) Ambient temperature:
