Industrial Location for Moving Lines
Track positions of your tools and make sure they are enabled only on the correct joint with correct strategy!
Locating tools in production is becoming a standard. In a connected manufacturing environment it links operation results (tightening results) with a specific product and specific joint. This information increase quality when a joint needs a rework or if a specific product should be re-called. How to track tools in industrial production?
Atlas Copco's Industrial Location for Moving Lines or ILM is plug and play solution developed for tracking of tools. Radio technology enables the accuracy of ± 10 cm.
A system enables minimalistic installation - you attach tool tags on your nutrunners and mount anchors around your assembly line. You are ready to teach the system new locations so it operates only in specific areas.
The ILM system provides 2 operational modes:
- stand-alone system (intelligence in tag) or
- communication with manufacturing execution system (MES)
Stand Alone mode
In this mode, the ILM system enables a tool via a tag mounted directly on the tool. A tool tag is constantly receiving a radio signal from anchors mounted around your assembly line. When a tool gets in position a tool tag will enable your tool. A tool enabling works locally directly between tag and tool, this minimizes the response time and improves ergonomics and convenience for operators.
Connected mode
In Connected mode, an anchor is monitoring location of your tool. When a tool arrives in position an anchor will send information to MES or controller. Control system will then select a strategy corresponding to specific joint.
The system consists of 2 hardware parts:
Tool Tag
- Provides location of your tool in space
- Accuracy of the system ±10cm
- No interferences with WiFi or Bluetooth using UWB radio technology
- No line of sight needed
Anchor
- Easy to setup
- Small factory footprint
- Connection with external systems via network possible
ILM system is designed for operation on static stations as well as on Moving lines!
